Troubleshooting
Common issues and how to resolve them.
Troubleshooting steps are grouped by store. On Windows, licensing comes from Microsoft Store. On Mac, licensing comes from the Apple App Store — the Mac version supports Apple Silicon and Intel Macs.
No source connected
The app has no live database connection. Go to Sources and connect a source first — Direct Explore, Data Map, and working tables all need a connected source.
Source needs reconnect
The database dropped the connection, or the machine went to sleep. Reconnect the source from the Sources page. Saved maps and working tables are not lost — only the live connection needs to be re-established.
No tables found in schema
The connected user may not have permission to read the schema, or the connected database genuinely has no tables. Check that the login used for the connection can see the tables you expect, and confirm you are connected to the right database.
Imported map needs source check
An imported data map references a source by name and shape, not by your local connection details. Review the imported map and connect the matching source before saving it. See Data Maps.
Free limit reached
Free allows 1 saved Data Map (up to 9 table nodes) and 3 working tables. To save more local assets, upgrade to Full — see Free vs Full.
License refresh needed after purchase
If the app was running while you purchased a license, it may not have picked the license up yet. Close and reopen the app, or use the license refresh option so the new entitlement is loaded.
Windows: refresh a license
On Windows, Full is purchased as a Microsoft Store in-app purchase/add-on. Open Settings → License → Refresh license to reload the Microsoft Store entitlement without restarting the app.
- Confirm you are signed in to Microsoft Store with the same account used for the purchase.
- If the purchase is missing entirely, check Manage in Microsoft Store for the order.
- Restarting the app also re-reads the license.
Mac: refresh license / Restore Purchases
On Mac, Full will be a one-time Apple App Store in-app purchase. Open Settings → License → Refresh license to reload the App Store entitlement. If that does not restore Full, choose Restore Purchases in the same Settings → License section so the app re-requests your purchase history from the App Store.
- Make sure you are signed in to the App Store with the same Apple Account used for the purchase.
- If Restore Purchases finds nothing, check Account → Purchase History in the App Store.
- Restarting the app also re-reads the entitlement.
Full purchased in the other store
Purchases are separate between Microsoft Store and the Apple App Store. Full bought on Windows does not unlock Full on Mac, and Full bought on Mac does not unlock Full on Windows. If you use Data Map Studio on both platforms, Full must be purchased in each store separately.
Full unlock unavailable in my region
On Windows, Full is sold through Microsoft Store as an in-app purchase/add-on and may be available only in selected Microsoft Store markets. If the purchase option is unavailable in your region, you can continue using the Free version.
On Mac, Full is sold as a one-time Apple App Store in-app purchase and its availability follows your App Store region and account. See Free vs Full.
Export unavailable in Free
Data Map export, data export, and import save-copy are Full features. In Free these options are not available. See Free vs Full.
